Factors influencing users' satisfaction with integrative knowledge management systems - A preliminary investigation

Those interested in improving the quality of an information system may also be interested in two particular research questions: “What factors influence the end users’ satisfaction, or otherwise, with the system?” and “What factors influence the end users’ decisions to use the system, or not?” A qualitative research project has been studying these two research questions in relation to a relatively new type of system: integrative knowledge management systems. This paper reports on the preliminary interview stage of the project. The paper describes the theoretical background for the research and how the specific research questions were arrived at. The paper describes why the research is necessary and then details the interviewing method that was used (RepGrid) and how the qualitative data was analysed. Summary results are presented followed by a discussion of how the research will proceed.
